Diplomato in pianoforte e in arpa presso i Conservatori “N. Paganini” di Genova e “A. Boito” di Parma, ha conseguito con il massimo dei voti e la lode il Diploma Accademico di secondo livello in arpa presso il Conservatorio “A. Boito” di Parma sotto la guida della Prof.ssa Emanuela Degli Esposti.
Perfezionatosi con Judith Liber, si è esibito in prestigiose sedi concertistiche in Italia e all’estero tra le quali Teatro Regio di Parma, Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, Galleria Franchetti alla Ca’ d’Oro di Venezia, Sala “Puccini” del Conservatorio di Milano, KKL di Lucerna, Cadogan Hall di Londra, Teatro dell’Opera di Praga, Centro Internazionale delle Arti di Pechino, Tokyo Opera City, Symphony Hall di Osaka, etc.
Collabora con numerose orchestre tra le quali la Filarmonica Toscanini di Parma, l’Orchestra della Radio Svizzera Italiana, l’Orchestra del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, l’Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Modena, l’Orchestra “Maderna” di Forlì-Cesena, l’Orchestra Sinfonica delle Isole Baleari di Palma de Mallorca etc, ed è stato diretto da prestigiose bacchette tra cui Donato Renzetti, Roberto Abbado, Tan Dun, Alpesh Chauhan, Alondra De La Parra, Marcus Bosch, Andrea Battistoni, Stanislav Kochanovsky, Christopher Franklin, etc.
Ha partecipato come ospite a numerose trasmissioni radiofoniche e televisive ed è stato invitato a presentare i suoi lavori discografici presso gli studi di Radio Uno della Radio Svizzera Italiana di Lugano e nel corso delle trasmissioni Radio Tre Suite e Piazza Verdi; le sue registrazioni sono regolarmente trasmesse dall’emittente Radio Classica.

Ha tenuto masterclass presso i Conservatori di Cagliari, Cosenza, Cuneo, La Spezia, Palermo, Pescara, Reggio Calabria e Venezia e, grazie al progetto “Erasmus docenti”, ha insegnato presso l’Institut Supèrior de Musique et Pedagogie di Namur (Belgio), il Conservatorio Superior de Musica y Danza di Palma de Mallorca e di Valencia (Spagna); è, inoltre, regolarmente invitato nelle giurie di Concorsi nazionali internazionali.
Dal 2014 al 2021 ha collaborato con il baritono Leo Nucci accompagnandolo nelle sue tournée internazionali assieme all’Italian Opera Chamber Ensemble e dal 2019 collabora con il tenore Fabio Armiliato.
Nel 2021 si è esibito a fianco del soprano Sonya Yoncheva in occasione del Festival di Salisburgo assieme al Donizetti Opera Ensemble.
E’ Presidente e fondatore dell’Associazione Culturale “Cantieri d’Arte” e direttore artistico delle rassegne musicali promosse dalla Regione Emilia Romagna “Note e Arte nel Romanico” e “Armoniosamente – Lungo le Antiche Sponde”.
E’ titolare della cattedra di Arpa presso il Conservatorio Statale di Musica “Achille Peri – Claudio Merulo” di Reggio Emilia e Castelnovo ne’ Monti.
Davide Burani
Davide Burani was born in Modena (Italy), where he began studying piano and then graduated brilliantly at the “Niccolò Paganini” Conservatoire in Genoa. Subsequently, he undertook the study of the harp under the guidance of Francesca Frigotto, at the Conservatoire “Arrigo Boito” in Parma, graduating with the highest marks and obtaining, always at the same Institute, the second level degree of Superior Musical Studies, with full marks and highest honours, under the guidance of Emanuela Degli Esposti. He later attended specialist courses with Judith Liber.
He has participated in numerous national and international competitions, qualifying for the final selections of the “Harp” category at the “Tournoi International de Musique” International Competition – XI edition; and, being awarded with an honourable mention, he was the winner, in the “Harp” category, at the Fivizzano Music World Competition ed. 2004. His concert activity led him to perform, with great success, in Italy and abroad, performing in prestigious concert venues in China, Japan, Africa and Europe.
He is the principal harp of the Philharmonic of the Italian Opera “Bruno Bartoletti” and of the Symphonic Orchestra of the “Terre Verdiane” and collaborates with the Orchestra of the Municipal Theatre of Bologna, with the Orchestra of the Italian Swiss Radio, with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Verona (formerly named “Virtuosi Italiani”), with the “Bruno Maderna” Orchestra of Forlì, with Veneto’s Philharmonic Orchestra, with the “Città di Ferrara” Orchestra, with the Emilia Romagna Symphony Orchestra “Arturo Toscanini”, with the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra of Palma de Mallorca; as a solo guest, he performed with the chamber groups “Gli Archi Italiani” (The Italian Strings), AdM Ensemble of Modena and Icarus Ensemble. With the latter he performed for the MI-TO Festival: Milan Turin Music at the Conservatoire of Milan, on the occasion of the 75th birthday of the composer Giacomo Manzoni. For the occasion, the ensemble performed Ravel’s Septet, in the presence, among others, of Luigi Pestalozza, Giacomo Manzoni and Maurizio Pollini.
He has participated as a guest in numerous radio and television broadcasts, he was also invited to present his discographic works at the RADIOUNO studios of the Swiss Italian Radio and Television in Lugano in 2003 and 2006. In October 2006 he was invited to participate, live on RAI RADIOTRE, in the radio broadcast “Radio three Suite”, during which some of his interpretations of harp repertoire were transmitted and commented by Nicola Campogrande. Again, he was a guest of RAI RADIOTRE for the transmission PIAZZA VERDI hosted by Filippo del Corno (March 2008), Gaia Varon (February 2009, October 2022), Maia Giudici (October 2011 and November 2013) and Oliviero Ponte di Pino (December 2015, November 2021).
He is regularly invited to join the juries of prestigious competitions (International Competition “Marcel Tournier” of Cosenza, International Competition “Suoni d’Arpa”, “Bissone Harp Festival – Suisse” etc).
Davide Burani has recorded the CDs “Arpamagica”, for solo harp, “Arpadamore”, with soprano Sandra Gigli, “Duo d’harpes dans le XIII siècle”, in duo with harpist Emanuela Degli Esposti and “Flauto and Arpa in concerto”, with flutist Giovanni Mareggini, the latter two for the “La Bottega Discantica” record company of Milan. July 2010 saw the release of the CD “Prière – musical meditations for harp”, published by the Paoline Editions of Rome, which sees the participation of the flutist Giovanni Mareggini and the violinist Marco Bronzi. For the record company “Velut Luna”, in 2011, he released the CD “Mozart and his contemporaries” (with the participation of Giovanni Mareggini and the String Orchestra “Gli Archi Italiani”) which contains, among other compositions, Mozart’s Concerto KV 299 for flute, harp and orchestra. Later, in 2013, he recorded the CD “Sighs in the late Romanticism” accompanied by the Ravenna Chamber Orchestra directed by Paolo Manetti, the recording contains, among other compositions, the “Sacred and Profane Dances” for harp and string orchestra by Claude Debussy. In January 2016, for “M.A.P. Editions” of Milan, Davide Burani recorded the CD “Madame La Harpe” for solo harp, a piece of work dedicated to the harp music of French composers active in the early twentieth century, in particular, the production contains three pieces of music recorded for the first time ever, by composers Ph. Gaubert, M. Grandjany and R. Martenot. In July 2019, the CD for harp duo “Aires de España” was released for “SMC Records” of Ivrea (Turin). Created in collaboration with the Spanish harpist José Antonio Domené, it is a collection of Spanish music which includes works by the composers L. Boccherini, P. A. Soler, I. Albéniz, E. Granados, M. De Falla, J. Turina and J. Thomas. In 2021 he released the CD 48 Etudes ou Fantaisies pour la Harpe dedicated to the composer Francois-Jospeh Dizi (1780 – 1840) of which he recorded, for SMC Records and in the first ever recording, this entire corpus of studies dedicated to the harp. In 2022 two CDs dedicated to chamber music for flute and harp were released; the first for Limen with the flutist Giovanni Mareggini, entitled “Notturni” and the second, for SMC Records, with the flutist Fulvio Fiorio entitled “Galanterie for flute and harp”: both works contain world premiere recordings.
He has lectured and mastered harp at Italian and foreign Conservatoires, including Adria, Cagliari, Cosenza, Cuneo, Padova, Palermo, Parma, Pesaro, Pescara, Reggio Calabria, Salerno, La Spezia, Venice and Madrid and on behalf of various musical institutions in Palermo, Ferrara, Modena and Reggio Emilia. As part of the “Erasmus Teachers” project, she has taught at the IMEP in Namur (Belgium) and at the Higher Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Valencia and Palma de Mallorca (Spain).
From 2014 to 2021 he accompanied the baritone Leo Nucci on his international tours with the chamber group Italian Opera Chamber Ensemble; in 2021 he was invited to perform with soprano Sonya Yoncheva at the Salzburg Festival with the Donizetti Ensemble.
He holds the chair of Harp at the “Achille Peri – Claudio Merulo” Conservatoire of Music in Reggio Emilia and Castelnovo ne’ Monti.
